Emergency Management Exercises
We all need to be prepared, as individuals and as a community, for whatever emergencies may occur. The East Orange Office of Emergency Management participates in tabletop and functional exercises to help prepare emergency responders for major incidents. Our exercises are conducted in conjunction with local, county, state and federal agencies.
East Orange received credit for two Emergency Management exercises in 2007.
Community Emergency Response Team
Experience has shown that after a major disaster, requests for fire, police, medical, and other public services begin to mount. At some point, the increased demand for services could result in delayed response times.
For this reason we actively recruit citizens for our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
CERT members learn to be self-reliant in an emergency. Individuals and organizations should be prepared to be without assistance for 72 hours or longer.
